When you first think of “marketing and selling,” most people think of the world of Mad Men, or of sleazy car salesmen with greasy hair and cigars.  However, in this two-week class, let Lift Off founder Rick Kitagawa show you a happier, friendly side to marketing and selling your art (that works even for introverts).

The first session will set the stage for all your marketing work by first explaining what marketing is and is not, then by participating in a lots of hands-on activities, you’ll be focusing on the basis of all your marketing: you and Your Narrative.  We’ll then get into the basics of creating an online base of operations and touch upon social media marketing.  When you leave you’ll have lots of great ideas that you can immediately implement to create buzz and start finding the right audience to sell to.

The second week we’ll focus on networking the non-creepy way and leveraging the connections you don’t know you already have.  We’ll then dive into the psychology behind successful salespeople, public speaking, and creating various income streams from your art that you already have.  You’ll close out the class knowing how to monetize your art, create and test products, and ways of making sure that your art gets its way into the hands of the right buyers.

Rick Kitagawa is an award-winning San Francisco based visual artist, storyteller, and arts educator.  He currently is a sponsored artist for Crescent, Savoir-Faire, and KRINK.  He also teaches business classes at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
